LIBBS Farmacêutica was founded in 1958. In 1983, the company's chemical plant was created. In 1998, LIBBS started up its hormone FDS facility and fermentation plant, and enlarged its pharmaceutical production facility.

LIBBS Farmacêutica specialises in several medical areas, and has a broad portfolio in the fields of cardiovascular, gynecology, central nervous system diseases, gastroenterology, urology, dermatology and pediatrics. In cardiology for example, the anti-arrhythmic Ancoron has been marketed for more than twenty five years. Diminut®, a low dosage oral contraceptive, is now the company's top selling product. Libiam®, a sexual hormone, and Cebrilin®, an anti-depressant, are two of LIBBS' other main products.

LIBBS Farmacêutica's most important raw material products are Amiodarone hydrochloride, Bromopride, Carvedilol, Cilostazol, Deflazacort, Doxazosin mesylate, Fluconazole, Gestoden, Guanabenz acetate, Mazindol, Omeprazole, Paroxetine hydrochloride and Tibolone. In the production of sexual hormones, LIBBS' multi-purpose dosage facility manufactures: oral solids - tablets and capsules; oral liquids; semi-solids; and injectables - liquid and dry-frozen.

LIBBS Farmacêutica's Marketing Staff comprises 520 professionals specialized in the ethical market, perfoming over 80 000 detailing visits per month. LIBBS also exports its products to some countries in Europe and to others of Mercosul. LIBBS Farmacêutica's industrial plant is located in the city of Embu 30 km from São Paulo. LIBBS' in house R&D enables own production of most important API and exclusive and innovative solutions in dosage forms. The company is seeking new markets for final products and APIs as well as looking for licensing opportunities. LIBBS searches for in-licensing opportunities with exclusive or semi-exclusive (co-marketing) rights for the Brazilian market, and is also interested in out-licensing proprietary products and brands..
