Zambon Pharmaceuticals SpA leading products are Fluimucil (N-Acetylcysteine); Monuril (Fosfomycin tromethamol); Spidifen (Ibuprofen arginine). Main therapeutic areas of interest for Zambon Pharmaceuticals SpA are Respiratory, Women's care and pain relief, with focus on mild-moderate diseases. The Company is developing a portfolio of product ranging from ethical prescription drugs to self-medication products. Zambon Pharmaceuticals SpA has production plants based in EU and China.

Partnering strategy/interests

Zambon's Pharmaceuticals Corporate Licensing Department is actively looking for in-licensing of products in the Respiratory, Woman's care and Pain relief. Moreover, Zambon Pharmaceuticals SpA is looking for out-licensing core products in territories where the Company is not present with Affiliates. Zambon's current strategy is to develop a portfolio of products ranging from ethical prescription drugs to OTC products that can play a significant role in the target areas. Main medical target currently visited are: GPs, Gynaecologists, ENT, Pediatricians, Pneumologists and Pharmacies, the latter covered by specialized sales lines in all key Countries.

R&D

Zambon has three main therapeutic areas: winter illnesses, women's health care and pain relief. Three top products for the same number of areas:

FLUIMUCIL® (active principle: N-Acetylcysteine)
A mucolytic with anti-oxidant properties, used worldwide for the treatment of various acute and chronic pathologies of the respiratory system.

MONURIL® (active principle: Fosfomycin Tromethamol)
An antibiotic specific for the treatment of un-complicated urinary tract infections (cystitis). The product is active with one single administration. This makes it a convenient first choice for treatment of common urinary infections. Fosfomycin Tromethamol is also approved by the prestigious American FDA.

SPEDIFEN® (active principle: Ibuprofen Arginine)
A special form of the well known analgesic Ibuprofen salified "in-situ" with L-Arginine. The addition of L-arginine allows a faster onset of pain relief with respect to commercially available ibuprofen formulations.

Partnerships

Important agreement were signed in 2004:

ObeTherapy Biotechnology - an R&D collaboration agreement with the aim of identifying low-molecular weight drugs for the treatment of metabolic disorders such as dyslipidaemia, metabolic syndrome, obesity and related comorbidities.

Bioxell - a research collaboration aimed at identifying and developing small molecule drugs that antagonize CXCR3, a chemokine receptor protein which plays a key role inflammatory diseases affecting skin, joints as well as the respiratory and gastrointestinal tract

Newron Pharmaceutical - a collaboration and liccence agreement aimetd at discovering, developing and commercializing novel compounds active as sodium and calcium channel blockers for the treatment of pain conditions, a growing market of unmet medical need
