A global Health Care group is currently seeking technologies that are able to diagnose health related conditions in consumers. The conditions can range from seasonal ailments, such as allergies, cold and flu, through to ailments that consumers would be embarrassed to seek medical advice upon, such as sexually transmitted diseases. The diagnostics kit should be suitable for use by a consumer with easy to read results and disposable. Consumers are becoming increasingly aware of the need to monitor and control their lifestyle to ensure they remain healthy. From measuring their own blood pressure through to analysing their food intake, consumers need products that will help them achieve this goal. We are looking to develop diagnostic kits / devices to help consumers monitor their health status. This could be carried out every day, as a monitoring function, or at times when they may feel "ill", to help them treat their symptoms early and promote a quicker recovery.
Kits / devices must be easy to use by a consumer, be clear in its results and be relatively low complexity. The expectation is that these kits / devices will have a World wide appeal and therefore be mass produced and distributed. If technology platforms can be offered that allow multiple tests to be carried out on the same platform, not necessarily all within one device, this will be highly favourable. Cost Of Goods (COGs) of the kit/device can vary depending on the condition being tested, but a guide of $1 per test would be a target.
Details of diagnostic test kits / devices submitted will require:
(i) Proof of concept status - i.e. data (in-vitro) needs to be supplied to demonstrate the validity of the technology for the target condition being diagnosed.
(ii) Clinical & Regulatory status - i.e. details of clinical studies (in-vivo) and regulatory status of kits / devices will make offerings more valuable.
